OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH UKRAINE

On Thursday afternoon, Rabbi Berger shared a prayer with the school for the people of Ukraine. Below please find a prayer from King David which we invite you to share.
He Who blessed our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob may He bless the people of Ukraine. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, protect and rescue them from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor. Together with all of Israel now let us respond: Amen
STANDING TOGETHER AGAINST BULLYING
Wednesday was Pink Shirt Day! This year we raised funds to support inclusive anti-bullying programs for kids in our communities through the CKNW Kids Fund.
Pink Shirt Day is celebrated across the world but was started right here in Canada in 2007!
Thanks to all the King David students who submitted button designs- congratulations to the winners whose art was made into pins worn by staff and students on Wednesday!
STOCKS, BONDS, AND BEYOND
In Economics 12, we have wrapped up a session of “You Be The Teacher,” with students teaching their peers on a selected topic. Here, Professors Ethan Dreyshner (left) and Max Kimmel (right) led the class through Stocks, Bonds, and Beyond, teaching their peers about the Efficient Market Hypothesis, Arbitrage, the S and P 500, and the relationship between risk and reward. Other topics taught by students to their peers included Price Elasticity of Demand; Normal, inferior and Giffen goods; Monopolies; Minimum Wage and it’s effect; and What Is Money, which left the class debating over whether or not Bitcoin meets the criteria to be considered money.
WATERLOO MATH CONTEST
On Wednesday, fifty Grade 9, 10 and 11 students participated in the University of Waterloo Math Contests. Students were challenged to use their Math skills, logic, and creativity to solve problems. Our KDHS students joined thousands of other students from across Canada and the US in completing the contest. Well done, Lions!
GO LIONS!
The King David Ice Hockey team beat the Prince of Wales Whalers 7-6, in an exciting back-and-forth matchup earlier this week. Jonah Lazar led the team with two goals, and Judah Moskovitz and Jadeyn Leung shared goaltending duties to hold on for the win.
Congratulations to the Senior Boys Basketball team for advancing to the GVISAA Championships. The Lions advanced with a 79 to 54 victory in their semi-final game where they were led by scorers Ezra Heayie and Arel Steen.
