CREATING CRITICAL THINKERS

The Grade 9 Social Studies class is currently learning about the French Revolution, and the students participated in a Revolution-style salon – with the addition of 21st century technology! Historically, salons were places for people to gather to explore ideas during the Enlightenment, and our students embraced the idea whole-heartedly. The class was given articles published by major philosophers of the time and were given questions to guide them in a discussion about how the ideas explored in the articles still pertain to life today.
ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS

Science 9 Accelerated students were assigned a local animal species and tasked with using research and their understanding of natural selection to create five new fictional species that could theoretically evolve from that animal. They created stories explaining how different environmental factors caused each adaptation and also drew pictures of their creations, presenting them to their peers on Tuesday.
LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Brody Tolensky, Sarah Irmin, and Max Howitt act on screen!

Drama 8 students are continuing to work on their skills in front of the camera – and off camera! Once they complete their recordings, students are tasked with editing them independently. The class is learning how to edit videos professionally using Adobe Rush software. They are working with adding music, graphics, and different styles of transitions, as well as altering the speed of different parts of their videos to change the effect.
KOL HAKAVOD, ISAAC!

Mazal Tov to Grade 12 student Isaac Biegel-Evans for getting published! Out of numerous submissions, Isaac’s piece “A Passing Decision” was chosen to be included in the second volume of Ariadne, a literary journal from ISABC schools that features student work.

You can view the entire journal by clicking here – Isaac’s piece is on page 86.
WELCOME TO THE ISABC FAMILY, VTT!

The Independent Schools Association of British Columbia (ISABC) is an association of forward-looking schools distinguished by outstanding educational experiences, opportunities, preparation for post-secondary placements and development of international understanding. The collaborative strength of the ISABC means that expertise, policies, and ideas are shared amongst the schools.

We have been so enriched through our partnership with the ISABC and we are thrilled that VTT will be joining as a new member of this family. VTT has so much to add to the group of schools and we look forward to expanding our partnership even more. Welcome, Emily and VTT!
A LAUGH TO KICK OFF THE WEEKEND…

Our illustrious Head of School, Russ Klein, received a visit from a very special guest from Vermont!

Shabbat Shalom!
