Parsha: Toldot: Genesis 25:19 – 28:9

This week in Holocaust Studies 12, my grandmother and award-winning author, Eva Wiseman, spoke to our class about her family immigrating to Canada, providing insight into how she started writing and sharing her family’s Holocaust story. She led us through a brief summary regarding each of her novels and the history behind them. She also explained her writing process and inspiration for her various books. We greatly appreciate her taking time out of her day to speak to our class and hope to learn from her again in the future.

The Green Club took advantage of the noon dismissal on Monday to get together after school to watch the inspiring documentary, 2040. Concerned about his young daughter’s future, filmmaker Damon Gameau travels the world in search of new approaches and solutions to climate change. He meets with innovators and changemakers in many fields to draw on their expertise. 2040 is a movie everyone should see if they have the chance.

It was nice to have both Junior and Senior Green Club come together (physically distanced of course) to see a film that left them all feeling hopeful about the future of our planet.

Inspired, members of the Green Club created the short video below to encourage our students to “go green” with their lunch containers – one small and easy step that can have an impact on climate change.

Message from the Green Club

On Wednesday evening, King David held ourfirst Virtual Annual General Meeting. We are delighted to welcome Ronit Berger and Yaron David to the Board of Directors.

Stepping down this year are Natalie Rosengarten and Elaine Grobman, who have both served on the Board for many years.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Natalie and Elaine for their hard work and commitment in building a strong and prosperous school!

Natalie’s stewardship over many years has seen King David grow from a dream to a thriving reality. Her tireless efforts have supported the development of our community high school. Natalie served as Co-President of the Board for seven years and is the proud parent of three King David alumni, David (Class of 2012), Gabi (Class of 2016), and Adam (Class of 2019).

Elaine, parent of King David alumna, Bella (Class of 2016), has made an invaluable contribution to the school, offering her wisdom, knowledge and expertise to help move the school forward.

Natalie and Elaine have played instrumental roles in guiding our mission and we look forward to their ongoing involvement with King David.

Even with students physically distanced, our exceptional Music teacher, Johnny Seguin, has the Grade 8 students playing in sync as they prepare for their end-of-term mini concert!

The Senior Girls’ Volleyball team had a blast with their coaches, Ms. V and Mr. Amram, this season and can’t wait to play again next year!
Community is built on solid partnerships like the one between King David High School and Jewish Federation. Working together enables us to do more.

Shabbat Shalom!
