A HAPPY PURIM!

What a wonderful celebration!

Purim is always a fun-filled day at King David, and this year was no exception! After our first block, we had a quick and clear reading of the Megillah, thanks to Rabbi Rosenfeld. Our students were respectful and quiet - unless, of course, they were booing Haman! Rabbi Berger created a wonderful (and rhyming!) Dr. Seuss-themed slideshow to ensure those not fluent in Hebrew were able to follow along!

After two more classes, the whole school streamed into the atrium to see a play created by Grade 12 students, with a comedic, modern take on the story of Purim. Then it was time for an incredible carnival. The booths were a ton of fun, and included Donut On a String, Spikeball, Cup Stacking, a Photo Booth, a Tik Tok making station, the Newlywed Game, and more! All the students had a fabulous time. A huge thanks goes to our Student Council members, who not only planned and created the booths, but ran them for their peers to enjoy!

Since the weather wasn't great, our superb PAC volunteers set up the fixings for the BBQ lunch in the hallway, and students were treated to hot dogs, chips, veggies and fruit before finishing the last two classes of the day.

In the afternoon, student volunteers wheeled the misloach manot-making carts to classrooms so that each grade had a chance to make one for a friend.

Thank you to Ellia Belson, Director of Jewish Life, for making sure that everything and everyone was in place, and to the wonderful PAC parents who volunteered their time to make the day extra special. An additional shout-out to our custodians, Jess and Noni, who always go the extra mile to ensure we have a successful holiday every time!
GETTING EXPERT ADVICE

On Thursday, we held our annual Career Fair for all students. The purpose of the event is to provide a broader perspective of potential opportunities for work life and post-secondary opportunities.

We had 12 different professionals come in to speak to our students about their high school experience, their post-secondary experiences, influential people who made a difference for them, how they decided on their career, and what their career is for them currently. Our guests included a speech pathologist, travel writer, firefighter, restaurateur, dietician, electrician, fashion merchandiser, family lawyer, Master Chocolatier, game developer, archaeologist, and a hair stylist. The event was very well-received by our students, and we are so grateful to our guests who took time out of their busy schedules to share their journeys and inspire students to think outside the box as they consider life beyond high school. Research shows that 64% of students in Grade 8 will be doing jobs that don't exist yet!
HAPPENINGS THIS WEEK

On Tuesday, at the end of Term 2, Music 8 students held a wonderful mini concert!

After our Purim celebration, our King David Ice Hockey team played against the visiting Hockey Academy of Israel delegation. Both teams had a wonderful time!

Grade 8 students enjoyed incredible weather - and had a blast! - when they went snowtubing on Cypress Mountain on Wednesday.

Shabbat Shalom!
