Ms. Wiesenthal with her students: Jillian Marks, Grade 11, Milena Markovich, Grade 12, and Adam Rosengarten, Grade 11

Anna-Mae Wiesenthal has been teaching Jewish History at King David for six years. During this time she has been recognized for the inspirational work she is doing with our students.

Last year, she received the Vancouver Holocaust Education Center (VHEC) Kron Sigal Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education when she worked together with the VHEC on the Student Docent Training Initiative, a successful pilot project in which volunteer students from King David High School were trained to become docents.

This year, she has been awarded a scholarship for the 2018 CSYV Holocaust Scholarship program as part of the group of educators who will be participating in a seminar during the summer at the International School at Yad Vashem in Israel. Anna-Mae is currently completing her Masters in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Gratz College.

Mazal Tov, Anna-Mae!

Every year, King David students participate in the University of Waterloo Math Contests. The contests are an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving ability.

This year, Josh Schecter and Noam Guralnick, both Grade 9 and members of King David’s Accelerated Math and Science Honours Program, received Certificates of Distinction awarded to the top 25% of students in Canada!

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Soccer Team for their extraordinary effort at the GVISAA Senior Girls Soccer Championships. Our team won the bronze medal, and was also named the tournament’s most sportsmanlike team. Mazal Tov on a wonderful season, and a great achievement! Thank you to Mr. O’Sullivan and Mr. Levy for leading and inspiring our team to always compete to the best of their ability while demonstrating good sportsmanship, etiquette, and respect for the game, opponents, officials, teammates, coaches, and fans.

Kol Hakavod to the Senior Boys Floor Hockey team for successfully defending their Lower Mainland Invitational Lions Floor Hockey Championship this year. A huge thank you to coaches Mr. Amram, Mr. Gorski, and Mr. Shpanya for their support. The team demonstrated excellent depth, teamwork, and hard work.

Shabbat Shalom!
