Open Your Home for Pesach
Judaics Coordinator, Rabbi Daniel Siegel is organizing a great opportunity to ensure our seniors can share in your Pesach celebrations.
Dear Parents,
From the Biblical exodus to our present day, Pesach has been a time of liberation, inclusion and celebration for all members of our community. Our young sitting side-by-side with our elders learn and share the story of our ongoing liberation from mitsrayim. In every generation
(בכל דור ודור), and from one generation to/with the next (מדור לדור), we are commanded to celebrate our Pesach holiday together.
As there are Jewish seniors within our Jewish community for whom Pesach will not be a shared celebration, but a time alone devoid of experiencing a seder or the warmth and caring of a holiday celebration with family, we have arranged for the possibility of welcoming these individuals into our homes for a seder joy and celebration with a hosting family.
If you and your family would like to welcome a Jewish senior to share a Pesach seder with you, kindly contact me within the next two weeks and I will provide you with further information as to how you may do so. This wonderful opportunity will provide an additional meaningful dimension to your seder and will further fulfill the mitzvah “and you shall teach your child” (והגדת לבנך)-relating the story of liberation to our children which is an ongoing imperative in words and deeds.
As we begin our seder with the words כל דכפין יתיי ויכול , “May all who are hungry come and eat”,
may we provide sustenance and community to those who hunger for caring and companionship.
May it be, as first expressed by Moses, a celebration to the Lord for all of us.
Be-virkat shalom,
Rabbi Daniel Siegel
