Justine Balin, Grade 12, will be featured on the Food Network’s show, Chopped Canada Teen!
"The experience of competing on Chopped Canada Teen was completely surreal!" Justine says. "I have been a huge fan of the show since it first began, so when I received the opportunity to compete, I was nervous, but beyond excited. The show was filmed in Toronto last June and I have had to keep my appearance a secret until recently. I am so grateful for King David’s Foods program, and for my wonderful teachers, Kristy Watson and Hilit Nurick, for their instrumental support and guidance."

Justine’s episode will air on Food Network Canada on Saturday, January 28, at 9:00 p.m.

Each Chopped Canada Teen episode features four aspiring young chefs battling each other for a $10,000 prize. All four contestants are given a collection of mystery ingredients to create three dishes to impress the panel of celebrity judges.

Keren Katz, Grade 8, takes the stage as Louise in the musical Sunday in the Park with George, which tells the stories of both a painter who begins to distance himself from those around him as he struggles to find his artistic voice, as well as the lives of the characters he paints onto canvasThe musical is being put on by the United Players of Vancouver at the Jericho Arts Centre.

Parents in the Classroom

The Psychology 11 class were given a wonderful opportunity to learn from Dr. Cirelle Rosenblatt, the second speaker in a series being brought into the class this term. Dr. Rosenblatt, a King David parent, gave an informative presentation focused on concussions. As an experienced neuropsychologist and a specialist in concussions, she was able to present an enriching presentation that dove deeper into what concussions really are, their long-term effects, how they affect brain development in adolescents, appropriate treatment, and many other interesting aspects regarding minor traumatic brain injuries.
