Shabbat Love

Izzy, Adi, and Shmuel, all on Student Council, spread the love

Shabbat is always a special day in the building. From wearing formal uniform to discussing the parsha of the week, Fridays feel different – and today even more so. Student Council organized a day of "Shabbat Love" when students could send "Shabbat-a-grams," candies, or flowers to friends and faculty. Walking through the building, the feeling was one of gratitude and joy. Thank you Student Council for the lovely day!
Social Media = Social Responsiblity

Using an image, Jesse Miller points out assumptions people can make about photos

As social media has become embedded into our society, the trends and trials of online sharing have entered many different learning environments, causing positivity for some, and chaos for others.

On Thursday, Jesse Miller did two presentations for our Grades 10 and 12 students, designed to shape how students use and communicate over social media websites and applications. The sole purpose of these workshops is to produce smart, aware, and ethical social media participants who communicate an effective and positive message and build an online reputation that will help them into the next stages of life.

"When Jesse speaks, he addresses many misunderstood issues about using the internet, how privacy settings are never really private, and teaches social media safety and awareness. He gives current information about usage of Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Technology is changing every day, and Jesse is dedicated to educating youth and adults about the truth of using social media and mobile devices."
~ Lu Winters, School Counsellor

"Jesse Miller highlighted the need to be a good online citizen. He taught us about the importance of being responsible online and how mistakes we make now can impact our futures, like when applying for university or a job."
~ Leah, Rakeea, and Maytar, Grade 10

If you would like to hear Jesse Miller, King David’s PAC has organized an evening presentation.

The Shinshiniot Share their Passion for Israel

Tomer Tetro and Lian Swissa are ready to discuss gap year possibilities in Israel

Lian and Tomer are always excited to share their love for Israel; they are true emissaries! On Thursday, they organized a Gap Year Fair and shared information about programs in Israel that allow young adults to experience Israel in a way they never have before, for example studying while living in a different community, meeting new friends, developing themselves, and maturing. They showed videos from alumni that described their experiences in Israel. As our shinshiniot always do, they supplied snacks and Israeli music! Both Lian and Tomer were thrilled by the response and the strong connection with Israel our students share with them.
