Today marks the fifth day since our Grade 8 students left Vancouver for the annual P2G Gesher Chai trip to Israel. Based on the updates we’ve received from Russ Klein, Head of School, it appears everything is going amazingly well.

Since their arrival, it’s been a whirlwind of excitement and activities – from Monday, our student have:
  • Visited HaMegenim, the elementary school partnered with RJDS, where they spent time visiting, playing soccer, and baking with the children
  • Swam a beautiful hot spring in Hamat Gader
  • Toured the Agamon Hula Valley Bird Paradise
  • Reunited with their friends at our Israeli sister school, Har Vagai
  • Stayed two nights on Kibbutz Dafna
  • Remembered the 1997 helicopter tragedy at the official memorial site
  • Spent two nights in their host family’s home
  • Attended classes at Har Vagai
  • Conducted science experiments at the Tel Hai College
  • Spent time at the Tel Hai Museum
Right now, our students are in the safe hands of their host family where they will be spending Shabbat and the weekend to fully immerse themselves in Israeli culture.

Happenings at King David

In case you wondered what takes place on a Professional Development Day, this happened last week!  Teachers got together for a spirited game of WallBall led by our very own Athletic Director, Mr. Amram.

Grade 10 English students practiced scenes from Macbeth earlier this week. On March 23rd, they will be performing different scenes from the play and celebrating with an Elizabethan Feast to complete the unit!

This is the first year King David is fielding a Rugby team and the team are looking pretty good! A big shout out to Avi Horwitz and the work that he is doing with our students. They did a great job at their first practice and we look forward to upcoming games!

As part of the Foods program we welcomed a special guest. Gila Ross spent time working with students as she demonstrated the preparation of a variety of dishes.

LAST WEEK to buy “Harvey” tickets!

Earlier this week, the cast of Harvey was interviewed by UBC’s radio station, CITR’s Arts Report. Tune into a recording of the show to hear Mr. Rosenberg, Daniel S., Matan P., Michelle N., Josha R., Deanna V., Rachel S., Matty F., and Matan’s father, Michael P., share their experiences and reasons why you should come out!

Including the students who participated in the interview, we have 30 students from Grades 9 – 12 participating in the school play – whether it’s acting, set production, directing, and more.

The King David faculty and administration appreciate your continued support of our students and their passions!

Celebrating 10 Years!

Ten years ago, King David High School opened its doors on Willow Street to meet our community’s growing need to provide a place where more  Jewish teens could enjoy an excellent education, feel valued, and form strong social bonds with their peers, in a safe and nurturing environment.

Since then, our school has graduated 300 young adults to the universities of their choice, has actively participated in the Jewish and Vancouver communities, and has honoured the donors and families who made King David a priority from day one.

Please join us as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary and honour the community, alumni, and visionaries who support King David, year after year.
