Never Forget

International Holocaust Remembrance Day, marking the passage of 70 years since the January 27, 1945, liberation of Auschwitz by Soviet soldiers, was on Tuesday. We came together at the end of the day to take a few moments to remember.

Joelle and Aria support survivor, Lilian Nemetz as they walk through Auschwitz together

Aria and Joelle, Grade 11, traveled to Poland as members of the Jewish Federation’s March of the Living Program in 2014.

Addressing the assembly, they said, “Today, it is our duty to reflect back on these events and
remember, as Ellie Wiesel said, ‘for the living, and for the dead.’ Just 8 months ago, Aria and I stood at this very place of horror, hand in hand with a man who lost his mother and younger brother to the cruelty that took place at Auschwitz-Birkenau.”

For the set of this year’s school play we are in need of:

  1. Books with red spines – as many as we can find. If you don’t mind going through your bookshelves and sending in any red-spined books you have to the drama room, we will ensure they are returned after the play in March. Just include your name on a post-it or piece of tape in the front cover.
  2. Help with the construction of the set, that would be greatly appreciated.

Please be in touch with our Drama teacher, Aron Rosenberg.
