Our Hearts are with Israel

King David mourns the senseless death of the five innocent victims and prays for the speedy recovery of the seven injured during the attack.

In a show of support, we came together as a school for an assembly and prayer led by Rabbi Berger and two Grade 11 students.

May the memories of all five victims be for a blessing and may we all join the call from the families of the victims for unity and compassion this Shabbat.
A Living Bridge

The March 2014 P2G King David delegation to Israel was the biggest yet – consisting of 41 Grade 8 students. While there, the students were immersed in Israeli culture and were joined by 30 Grade 8 Har Vagai students for
field trips in the region. To further enhance their experience, our students billeted with the Israeli students and their families for 4 days.

Rabbi Berger welcomes our Israeli visitors

We welcomed 24 of the 30, now Grade 9, Har Vagai students on Wednesday evening to give them an opportunity to experience life as a Jew in the Diaspora as a Canadian student and do some sight-seeing in our beautiful city. This too, is the largest delegation from Israel!

On Thursday morning, our visitors were greeted with a school-wide assembly and celebratory music to kick-off their week in Canada. Throughout the week, students will be busy attending classes at King David, visiting Vancouver tourist spots, checking out the JCC, sharing a Shabbat dinner, and visiting key Jewish institutions in Vancouver.
We hope they have an amazing week in Vancouver!

Mr. Klein makes a group of visitors laugh!

The shared exchanges facilitate learning about the concept of Jewish peoplehood and the mutual understanding of the existence of Jewish people all over the world. Along with the connections made between the students, the staff from both schools also have the opportunity to develop plans for ongoing delegations and to share cross-curricular projects and events to benefit students and faculty from both countries.

Getting reacquainted!

Our gratitude goes to the Federation’s Partnership Together (P2G) program, without their support these exchanges would not be possible.
