Kol Hakavod!
 | A very proud team!
|
The intense 2013 Soccer season has come to an end! On Wednesday, out in Coquitlam, our Boys Soccer team won 3rd place in the GVISAA Finals! It was an incredibly close and exciting game with beautiful goals from Jesse, Grade 12, and Noahm, Grade 11, as well as big saves from Max, Grade 11, in goal. Then a far-too-exciting end of the 80 minute game with the other team scoring in the last seconds of regular time to tie it up 2-2. Our players went into the Golden-Goal Extra Time with determination and Elias, Grade 12, scored the sudden-death winner! An inspired end to a great season with almost the entire team there for the final game.
What makes this a notable achievement is the fact that the King David team included players from Grades 8 through 12 playing against teams of senior players only. A sincere thank you to Coach Carla Yaxley for her commitment, passion and leadership working with the Boys Soccer team this year.

Commedia Dell’Arte at King David
Matan, Talya and Itamar in action
|
To start the year in the Drama room, the Grade 9 students are learning from the art of Commedia Dell’arte. Using hand made Venetian masks, they have been practicing with physical comedy and learning how to create their own lazzi, which means ‘improvised comedy action’. Traditionally, Commedia was performed in busy market places. This week, the class performed for their peers – it was a great show!
“Commedia is really fun and enjoyable because you get to put on masks and play different characters” ~ Matanya, Grade 9
